In a surprising partnership that challenges usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.

The adventure centers on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple objects hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Latest Free Story Update

This release also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
